Open Government for Open Data

JRIG Project Coordinator discusses the Institute's involvement in Open Government Philippines

On September 14-15, 2017 in Taiwan, JRIG presented at the Asia Open Data Partnership (AODP) Dialogue and 2017 International Data Economy Summit. We shared our experience with promoting open data in the Philippines. Specifically, we discussed the country's innovative approach to promoting transparency and accountability through our involvement with the Open Government Partnership Steering Committee.

The purpose of the AODP Dialogue was to discuss the progress of open data throughout various countries within the region including: Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and India. During the 2017 International Data Economy Summit we participated in a panel discussion to identify how open data can potentially develop business opportunities. As a result of this event, AODP members will continue to research how we can develop an open data portal for the Asian region.
