Lecture and Launching of the book on the 2018 Bangsamoro Organic Law in the Philippines

 
 

On January 29, 2019, the DLSU Jesse Robredo Institute of Governance (JRIG), as a member of the Knowledge for Development Community (KDC) of the World Bank, and the DLSU University Libraries hosted the lecture and book launch of Dr. Macapado Abaton Muslim’s book, "The 2018 Bangsamoro Organic Law in the Philippines: Solving the Mindanao Conflict with Autonomy and Compensatory Justice."

The author, Dr. Macapado Muslim is a Professor and the former President of the Mindanao State University - System. The lecture and book launch served as a venue for learning and discussion on issues concerning peace and development in Mindanao in the context of the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

DLSU Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Dr. Raymond Girard Tan gave the opening remarks followed by the introduction of the speaker by Dr. Francisco Magno, Senior Fellow of DLSU-JRIG. Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Undersecretary Nabil Tan, Asian Association of Public Administration President and former Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Dr. Alex Brillantes, and Philippine Political Science Association President Dr. Julio Teehankee gave insightful comments and reactions. The event was well attended by diplomats and representatives of various embassies, civil society representatives, students and academics from different universities, and media.
