The La Salle Institute of Governance is currently looking for a part-time Media Engagement Specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure and enhance traditional media coverage and social media engagement of the Institute’s programs, projects, activities, and outputs;
Network with media organizations about the Institute’s programs, projects, activities, and outputs;
Conduct media engagement activities for the Institute: writing and submission of press releases; writing of formal statements; invitation of media organizations to cover the Institute; development of content and management of the Institute’s social media accounts and websites; design of adverts; and conduct of press conferences.
Develop a media engagement/communication plan and strategy for the Institute;
Collaborate with the Project Directors, Managers, and staff of the Institute, and;
Report to the Institute’s Director.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Development Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, Communication Arts, Broadcasting, and Marketing or other related courses;
At least three (3) years of work experience and track record in one or more of the following areas: public relations, journalism, broadcasting, media relations, development communications, and/or organizational communications, and social marketing;
Previous experience of working with media organizations is an advantage;
Experience in proactive and reactive media relations, and crisis management;
Strong written and verbal communications skills, and;
Creative thinker and with the ability to present, develop and implement new and innovative ideas.
