The DLSU Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance (DLSU-JRIG) in partnership with the CIVIKA Asian Development Academy (CIVIKA) and the Department of Education (DepEd) Region IV-A conducted a research workshop on Zero Hunger Initiative (ZHI) last 13 June 2019 at the Roof Deck, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University in Manila. The activity served as a venue for public education stakeholders to identify research opportunities and develop solutions to address local challenges related to hunger, malnutrition, and health in public schools. With DepEd Region IV-A officials, teachers, and personnel in attendance, the workshop was able to contribute in developing a social laboratory (ZHI Labs) and network of action-research organizations that can provide knowledge support to stakeholders and decision-makers on education and health issues. Dr. Sherwin Ona of the DLSU-JRIG, Dr. Elmer Soriano of CIVIKA, and Ms. Estafanie Bertumen of the College of Computer Studies of DLSU served as resource persons. Ms. Viernalyn Nama of the Policy Planning and Research Division of DepEd Region IV-A attended the event.
