De La Salle University (DLSU) through its DLSU Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance (DLSU-JMRIG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Carnegie Mellon University in Australia (CMU-A) last 27 June 2019 at the Verdure, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University in Manila. The two Universities will be involved in collaborative knowledge programs and projects such as joint capacity building activities, research partnerships, and faculty exchanges that aim to address issues concerning the Bangsamoro Region development, achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, and data governance. The MoU was signed by DLSU President Br. Raymundo B. Suplido FSC and CMU-A Head Professor Emil P. Bolangaita. His Excellency Steven J. Robinson, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, witnessed the signing ceremony.
The MoU signing was held during the Graduation and Policy Forum of the Policy Research and Development Course co-implemented by the CMU-A and the DLSU-JMRIG through the support of the by the Australian Government through the Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program Philippines(AAAEP-P).The training programme involved the conduct of a 7-week training session that equipped selected middle level government personnel with knowledge, skills, and tools in conducting policy analysis, formulation, and design. The training sessions resulted in the production of policy briefs which will be deemed useful by government agencies and key stakeholders in planning their programs and delivering public services.The training program contributed in promoting an evidence-based policy-making culture in public organizations especially in this age of the knowledge society.
